Born in Cleveland, OH, I was raised on ballet, opera, & theater. I was a competitive figure skater age 10-20, earned a BFA in dance performance from Kent State University in 2008 and a MFA in costume design in 2012. Following a misprint of my name David as Dav in a performance program, “Dav” became my signature and preferred name.
I moved to New York in 2013 where I supervised wardrobe cruise ship entertainment on Holland America Line for 3 years. I became a Local 764 IATSE wardrobe union member in 2016 and have worked on Beetlejuice, The Cher Show, Cats, Great Comet of 1812, Cirque du Soleil’s Paramour, New York City Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, Sleep No More NYC. I also work out of my home, doing alterations, making custom garments, and a line of face masks featuring my sketches. There are many other employment opportunities that present themselves around wardrobe, such as stitching for fashion week, costume projects of theater co-workers, drag performers commissioned pieces, and film/tv tailoring.
